Rhyming Baskets- I use two baskets. In one basket, I put some of my daughters small toys and other small objects from around the house.
In the second basket, I added different things that would rhyme with one of the items in the first basket.
Then I would ask my child to randomly pick up an object from one of the baskets, and find a object from the second basket that rhymed or sounds similar.
For example, if my child picks up the toy cat from one of the baskets she needs to look within the second basket for an item that rhymes with cat like “hat” and so on.
We play this game until we are all out of rhyming matches.
As your child gets better at finding items that rhyme with each other, you can make this game a bit harder by putting all of the items in one big basket. Then have your child close his eyes, randomly grab an item, and come up with a few rhyming words.
