You are about to discover how to minimize the amount of time you spend folding your kids laundry AND it’s so easy, your kids can do it too!
I don’t know about you, but I am not a fan of folding and putting laundry away. It takes less time to recreate the mess then it does to organize it.
For instance, my five year old picks out her own outfits, and when she looks inside her drawers for pieces of clothes, she unfolds everything!
Argh! I could scream.
I felt like I was wasting too much time and effort folding clothes. So I gave up, and decided to implement a simple solution.
Helloooo NO fold laundry system! Where have you been all my mommy life???
The no fold laundry system described below is a time saver and will help you keep things relatively organized.
I’ve been using the no fold laundry for my daughters clothes for a few weeks now, and I like it!
I feel more relaxed about our laundry. I can’t believe I didn’t start doing this sooner.
So here’s what I did. I divided a 6 drawer dresser in to two kids. One side for J the other side for N.
One dresser per child works great too, it all depends on the dresser you already have for your child(ren).
Next, I took packaging tape and adhered it against the top of each drawer. Then with a black sharpie, I wrote what’s inside. You can also use a label maker or your computer, but this is what I had on hand at the time.
Since N is only 14 months old and can’t read yet, I drew a few pictures to go along with the labels on her drawers. I divided an index card in half and drew a clothing piece on each section. Then too make it look nicer, I colored it.
When the labels were done, I taped them on the drawer.
Now, here is how this no fold laundry system works. Once you take your clothes out of the dryer, separate it by shirts, shorts or whatever category you made. Put the clothes inside the corresponding drawer without folding. That’s it!
So easy, even a child can do it! By all means have your child do it. Since they no longer have the excuse of not knowing how to fold their clothes. Let them sort their own clothes and put it away.
Does the clothes get wrinkled? Yes, they usually do! But you know what, most of the clothes in their drawers are play clothes and my kids don’t mind a few wrinkles, so why should I? Ha!
To be honest with you, I have all of their nicer clothes like dresses, dressy shirts, etc. hanging in their closet. I don’t fold them either!
