Hi, I’m Rosa Rosas and I write MamaMaestra.com to help moms nurture their child’s developing mind.
I started MamaMaestra to share fun ideas and tips that will help you give your children the opportunity for early learning at home using simple, everyday materials, age-appropriate methods, and tools.
Prior to being a mom, I completed a B.S. degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.
I married my best friend, and had three beautiful girls.
My first daughter was born medically fragile and had special needs.
We were always in and out of the hospital, and having her home was our biggest joy. We never gave up on her and like any loving parent, we cared for our child with a lot of love and dedication until her very last breath.
To be honest with you, sometimes I wasn’t sure I was doing what was best for my smart girl. I wasn’t just an inexperienced parent, I was a special needs mom with a million questions and almost no answers.
I started reading articles, books and everything I could get my hands on about early learning and children with special needs. Eventually, I went back to school and completed a degree in Early Childhood Development.
With the birth of my next two daughters, I realized that the fear I had in regards to my first daughter was not solely based on her having had special needs, but an insecurity I felt as a parent.
Surely, I’m not the only parent concerned with the lasting effects that early life experiences have on their child’s social, emotional and intellectual development.
So it is my goal, to share all that I continue to learn and things that have worked with my own children in hopes to help other moms (and dads) enhance their child’s development in the early years – the years we as parents are their first teachers.
I am pumped and ready to help you!
